Ambrein, also known as ambergrisin, is a triterpene alcohol compound with a unique chemical structure. Its molecular formula is C30H52O. It is a white or light grey waxy solid with a unique aroma. It has a melting temperature of 79degC and is not soluble in water. However, it is soluble organic solvents like ethanol and ether. The molecules of this waxy solid are made up of many ring structures, long-chain alkyl chains and a complex structure. This gives it unique physical and chemical characteristics.
