The optical rotation of the d’optical active body (45-46degC) is +104deg. The optical rotation of the L-optical body is -85deg. It is not soluble with water. However, it is soluble with ethanol and cyclohexane. d-Campene is found in camphor, turmeric, white wormwood, orange flower, and lavender oils. L-Campene is found in fir, hemlock, and thuja oils. It is produced by catalytically isomerizing pinene.
