Basic Info
(+)- Dipentene, a monoterpene liquid compound with a lemony aroma, is colorless and oily. It is antitussive and expectorant, as well as antibacterial. Clinically, compound limonene is used for litholysis and gallbladder stimulation, as well as to promote digestive juice secretion, eliminate intestinal gas, and encourage digestion. It is also widely found in plant essential oils. Mandarin oil is one of the most common. Other ones include orange oil and camphor white. Peppermint oil is a good example of a left-handed isomer. Orange blossom oil, camphor white and cedar oils are all racemic isomers.
