Nerol is a monoterpene alcohol organic compound with a chemical formula of C ₁₀ H ₁₈ O. Its molecular structure contains double bonds and hydroxyl groups, and it belongs to the chain terpenoid alcohol group. It is usually a colorless to light yellow liquid with a sweet floral aroma similar to orange blossom, rose, and geranium, with a mild citrus note and a fresh and gentle scent.
Orange blossom alcohol is found in many essential oils such as rose oil and orange blossom oil. The alcohol can be prepared either by synthesising it chemically or by distilling leaves, flowers and other parts. It is a geometric Geraniol isomer with cis-trans isomers.
